Welcome to the online version of your Blood Testing School Resource Binder! Here you will find all the resources that were included in your classroom binder, along with a number of virtual resources for you to use as a Certified Blood Tester.

This resource binder can be used in conjunction with the Blood Testing School Manual found on our website. The Blood Testing School Manual is your go-to website for sharpening your blood testing skill set while preparing to take your recertification exam. This website is meant to be a dynamic resource page for anything you might need while fulfilling your role as a Certified Blood Tester.

NPIP EXHIBITION MEMBERSHIP

What are the benefits of NPIP Exhibition Member Participation?

  • Your flock will be recognized as a participating member of the National Poultry Improvement Plan.

  • Your flock will be given an approval number which may be used on shipping labels, certificates, invoices, and other documents for identification purposes.

  • Your flock will be listed in a database on the NPIP website (poultryimprovement.org) showing all hatcheries, dealers and independent flocks participating in the NPIP.

  • You will receive periodic communication from ISPA with relevant poultry health information and emergency disease updates.

How do I apply for NPIP Exhibition Membership?

  • Complete the INDIANA NPIP EXHIBITION PARTICIPANT APPLICATION on our website.

  • Submit a completed NPIP VS Form 9-2 to the Indiana Board of Animal Health. Submissions can be done either electronically or through paper mail.

    • Requirements for testing:

      • A Certified Blood Tester must test 10% of your flock, with a minimum of 30 birds and up to a maximum of 300 birds.

      • The ratio of male to female birds tested must be representative of the ratio of male to female birds in your flock.

      • The birds tested from your flock should be between 16-24 weeks of age.

    • Submission of form:

      • Email address: npip@boah.in.gov (be sure to note that the VS Form 9-2 is for Exhibition Participation)

ISPA Poultry nECROPSY Support

The Indiana State Poultry Association has partnered with the Animal Disease Diagnostic Laboratory (ADDL) to provide free necropsy services to exhibition and hobbyist flock owners who have been affected by disease.

If birds from your flock are sick, or if you have experienced unusual mortality in your flock, you can submit birds to the ADDL for a necropsy at no cost to you. The ADDL will determine the cause of the disease and/or mortality and provide a report to the flock owner with the results of the necropsy. The ADDL can also recommend next steps to take when responding to a disease incident in your flock.
